Imageline Deckdance DVS

Image-Line's hot new DVS Deckadance reaches a milestone with the release of v1.2 - yes, it's now running natively on Mac. So finally, this technologically challenged hack can finally see what all the damned fuss is about. Having got quite a few DVS interfaces and vinyls (not to mention a Zero4 and d.2 Pro) lying around, it'll be interesting to see how it performs as a first Mac release.

Here's what's new and changed:

[new] Mac OSX release (Universal Binary) [DD-42].
[new] Minihost rewritten from scratch & now supports both DirectSound & ASIO (on PC) & CoreAudio (on Mac)
[new] Redesign of the Digital Vinyl System panel. It includes now a real-time signal spectroscope and an easy-to-use interface [DD-43].
[new] Vinyl timecode control of decks inside Live and Live LE [DD-44].
[new] New Minihost with support for DirectSound drivers and new features as tap master tempo and window resize/move [DD-45].
[new] Added a master level volume to the new minihost [DD-54].
[new] Native support for Numark Total Control console [DD-47].
[new] Transform button now also includes "cut" mode [DD-48].
[chg] Changes in the inline help to reflect the latest changes in Deckadance [DD-52].
[chg] Changes in the demo mode. Now the dropdown volume (silence) will be inserted every 4 minutes [DD-53].
[imp] Automix mode has been rewritten and improved. Now it doesn't stop the current playing track [DD-51].
[imp] Internal changes to the browser to increase his efficiency [DD-49].
[imp] General improvements and bug fixes [DD-50].
[imp] Fixed important cpu usage bug in Windows version
[imp] Added white and black updated skins
[fix] Fixed the crash that happens sometimes (in version 1.20 RC3) when changing the skin [DD-55].
[fix] Fixed the crash that happens sometimes (in version 1.20 RC3) when resizing the main window [DD-56].

I've fired it up on my apparently soooo last century G4 and the processor was running at 80%. In fairness to Deckadance, while being tagged as v1.2, it's still v1.0 of the Mac version and much like VirtualDJ/Cue for Mac, it's will take some time to get up to speed and be properly optimised.

Oh goody, a new mac s/w toy to play with, so I can laugh! BTW, Mac download can only be obtained by registering to their forum! BTW, Gizmo, not impressed with the website and I'm sure you already know the problems posting this. :-(

I wonder if it supports both relative and absolute modes for the Traktor Scratch records... Does anyone know?

if they can make a mac version of deckadance, why do they refuse to make a mac version of fruityloops god damn it. That is my favorite software but i have shunned PC's forever so im fucked when it comes to fruit loops.

I am so happy that Deckadance is starting to get recognition. A software cycle is such a delicate thing. Deckadance is a beautiful piece of code.. Please don't disparage her because shes young. True, no itunes db support.. Let her grow.. take pride in her feature at such a young age. She comes from great mathematical stock.

A fan of of mixed music and intelligent code.
