DJS demo download
DJS demo download
Posted by Gizmo on December 22, 2005 :

A little while back, I reported on some news software coming from the Pioneer camp called DJS - essentially taking a conventional CD setup and converting it into a virtual setup inside your very own PC (yes PC only - no Mac version). And now you can try out a 30 day demo for yourself.

I'd be interested to hear what people think as I find myself bizarrely wanting to use this software but being a Mac owner, like many others I'm left out of the loop.

To get your own 30 day experience, grab your copy here.

I tried this a while back but the software seemed to want me to have 2 soundcards instead of doing the usual multi-channel ASIO setup we all know and love. Can anyone confirm that? I just gave up. I couldn't believe that you really needed an extra soundcard to monitor.

how does multi channel ASIO work if you only have a single output? a pair of mono outputs?

i wonder how much better this is than using internal mode on SSL.

Who said you could only have 1 stereo output? My inexpensive card has 2 stereo outs, and 1 digital out. Many of the more expensive cards have far more than that.

That sucks if it is the case... not being able to use it like that.

I've used my ASIO card (M-Audio FW410) and can set it for individual stereo outs (1&2 / 3&4) or the Combined output (even with external mixer mode, but that's just stupid).

Try changing your drivers if your soundcard doesn't support more than 1 stereo output (or change your soundcard!blink1.gif

My 44 supports 2x stereo outs but DJS didn't recognise my ASIO drivers, plus i couldn't figure out how to bypass the soft mixer. I ran it for a while with the master out out one set of outputs and the cue out the other, but there was a big delay between the two. I'll try to sort it out tonight.
On the whole though, it feels better than most similar software packages i've used...having used Pioneer CDJs a lot before i felt right at home on the interface.

Thought there must be a way but I didn't perservere much (my interest in this software wasn't much TBH). My Emu1820 can definitely handle plenty of channels!

n, thats what i was going to say!

nice idea, to have virtual dj software that doesn't rely on a hardware interface. Whether it can take on the might Scratch Live in terms of stability/features/productivity is another matter altogether.
