Noisy Stylus in real instrument scandal
Noisy Stylus in real instrument scandal
Posted by Gizmo on December 19, 2005 :

What's this? Real instruments? Where's the emcee? Ahhh... it seems my very favouritest Teutonic turntablists Noisy Stylus have done something a little out of the ordinary here. Not content with battling other turntablist crews, the guys have decided to battle it out with a real live band. Ummm... that is what's happening right? unsure.gif

OK I possibly got it wrong. Seems that the guys are playing a couple of tracks from their "Table Manners" LP with a group of musicians from the Cologne Music School at the Cologne Jazz Night event. The seated audience were somewhat surprised but rather more familiar with scratching after the performance.

The 2 songs are "Music sucks" and "Never leave" from the previously mentioned "Table Manners" LP, which is available from the Skratchshop in double vinyl and CD format. Stop sharing and support the the artists and the scene people.

Video is here - http://www.noisystylus.com/media/video/noisy_stylus__cologne_jazz_night.WMV

the only problem i see with the link is that from the noisy stylus site it is .wmv rather then .WMV. which is web design turns makes a difference.

Playing with a "real live band" should be a primary objectif for a scratch instrumentist ...

The cool thing is, they do not only collaborate with real musicians, they make them play their scratch songs !!!

How cool is that...kinda like: Hey dude, i just scratched this melody, now try and play this on your guitar, horn or whatever :D

Yeah, and they are all incredible at whatever they play. That Guitarist is so...good. And the drummers are funky as well. One drummer has like 2 small Hihats set up...ill idea!

Finally, the DJ's are catching on the musical aspect of it. This is what DJing needed in order for the turntable to be taken seriously as an instrument.
