BPM 2010: Numark Mixtrack Pro

Numark Mixtrack pro BPM 2010

The digital DJ is pushing the scene towards a highly simplified plug n play situation - turn up at the gig, plug your controller into your laptop and you're off. Numark's previous Mixtrack was almost there, but you also needed to source an audio interface (I hate saying sound card) to get any sound out of it. But now Numark have taken Mixtrack to its logical conculsion - wack in an audio interface and call it Mixtrack Pro.

There are other differences aside from inputs and outputs - cosmetically its got a splash of Silver here and there, but this comes with Virtual DJ LE rather than Traktor LE. I never did understand having Cue as a rebadged version of VDJ - I can only guess that Cue has ceased to be.

Here's the press words:
Numark Mixtrack pro BPM 2010

Powerful, Portable Software Control with Touch-Sensitive Decks and USB Audio Interface Provides the Ultimate All-in-One Computer DJ Solution

Cumberland, R.I. (Oct. 1, 2010) – Numark, the world’s leading manufacturer of DJ technology, announces MIXTRACK PRO, the new DJ software controller and computer audio interface designed to mix, scratch and perform.

MIXTRACK PRO will be instantly familiar to DJs because it works just like any two-decks-and-a-mixer DJ setup. MIXTRACK PRO is easy to learn so it’s perfect for building mixing skills and performance chops, yet handles advanced performance techniques to satisfy the most experienced DJ.

MIXTRACK PRO has two deck controllers with large touch-activated jog wheels and transport controls. Whether a DJ is used to a CD player, turntables, or any other traditional DJ hardware, the transition to going digital with MIXTRACK PRO is a snap. MIXTRACK PRO contains illuminated Transport, Loop, and Effects buttons for quick referencing during performance on stage or in the studio. The center of MIXTRACK PRO’s surface is its mixer section with a smooth crossfader, line faders, deck EQs, and advanced controls for looping and effects. It's portable too, so DJs can grab MIXTRACK PRO and a laptop and effortlessly get to the gig.

MIXTRACK PRO also acts as a super clean, professional audio interface providing pristine, stereo sound to both the master outputs and headphone cue. There is even a microphone input to add vocals to a DJ set or make announcements. MIXTRACK PRO connects to a Mac or PC as a class-compliant device so it requires no software drivers to work, and is USB powered so an external supply is not needed.

Included with MIXTRACK PRO is the powerful Virtual DJ LE software for mixing and performing all types of digital audio and video formats, including direct access to iTunes playlists. MIXTRACK PRO gives you immediate control over all of Virtual DJ’s parameters for a direct, “hands-on” DJ experience that feels as good as it sounds.

“MIXTRACK PRO offers unparalleled function and ease for the aspiring DJ looking for a complete, compact controller solution.” said Chris Roman, Product Development Manager, Numark.

MIXTRACK PRO will be available from musical instrument and DJ retailers in Q4 2010. It has a U.S. retail price of $349.00 and a street price of $249.99.

Very nice unit, got mine yesterday. Jogs/platters feel great, knobs, buttons and dials are precise and the sliders feel real good. For the price you can beat this one.

Got mine last week. There is a slight lag on the response of platter, and the effect echo does not function when u hit the pause button, but not bad considering virtual dj is the software. Love this one!

Numark Mixtrack not a cheap MIDI Controller but a MIDI Controller you that is cheap

Solid unit, good distribution of the space, like the resistance of the knobs and sliders, the mapping is fully "customizable"
Got the Numark Mixtrack and pared with the audio2DJ(I needed a professional sound quality, that the Misxtrakpro lacks) you gotta play with the latency a little bit to avoid cracks and blips when using the controller but after you set it up right, It performs extremely well
Leds fully functional and mappable,
perfect wight
Space between knobs
Seamless integration with Traktor Pro 1
love the browser section
plates are big

no detachable USB cord (seriously?)
no knobs for channels gains
no knobs for filters
Mapping the Plates a real pain
knobs could use a little rubber they feel too plastic
not %100 rotation accuracy I'm loosing %7 from 0 to 100 before the Traktor start receiving the signal

Button line:

For this price you cannot go wrong, yes can be a entry level MIDI Controller, but it is a serious competition to the more expensive ones, it has a good feeling and for the beedroom DJ looking for "all in one" Controller this is aserious option.

if you need help with the mapping visit my site
