Vestax mixers update
Vestax mixers update
Posted by Gizmo on October 29, 2003 :

If you've been wondering about the recently seen Vestax 05Pro3 and PMC007 mixers, their arrival on the streets is imminent. From Vestax UK:

"The PMC-05Pro3 is due to arrive in the UK late November, although initially in limited numbers. The street price is expected to be around £350, similar to the previous model. The PMC-007 is due a little later, probably early January. Street price for this is around £700, again similar to the earlier model (until very recently).

Why the F*** mad.gif did vestax take the eq faders away from the 07? That was one of the only good things about them

Well, it's an 007 so i suspect they will still continue and support the standard 07.
Also about the 'scratch eq'. I'm still not sure if this is a default hardware sort of "this is the eq we think best for scratching" setting or something the user can adjust how they see fit. ProfBX reckoned the latter but i'm not sure how this is done? It doesn't seem obvious from the design and i would have thought you'd need some kind of memory to retain settings? Maybe you hold the scratch eq button down to save the setting if this is possible?

I also noted the move away from faders to knobs. Personally, I prefer faders as it allows you to manipulate them all at once. I know BX likes faders as well. I wonder what made Vestax change their minds? I hope it's not a cost thing - I'd hate to think they were compromising the design to save a bit of money.

Anyone else - EQ faders or knobs?

I think that the move from faders to knobs is 3 fold-
-One, it matches the rounded mixers that they are trying to do
-Two, it is more of a scratch/mix hybrid (notice lack of channel hamsters and only a 3 position curve switch on the front), and some mixers tend to bitch about fader eq's....cunts.
-Three, they were totally biting the focus mixer and since Focus went with knobs they figured they would to.

Baby Cee - I've been in contact with Karl - the head honcho at Pioneer and he's been very helpful. I've now got a European contact and will be trying to get a demo unit for skratchworx to play with. 8)
